Sabunyo Hotel is one of our favorite accommodation options for visitors exploring Sironko Town and its surrounding attractions especially Mount Elgon and Sipi Falls among others. This Hotel stands tall in Nampanga, along Gafabusa road and about 22 kilometers from Sipi Falls hence making it an incredible stopover and place to stay during your visit to the district.
This new Hotel has two floors but presently only one floor is complete and open, while the other is still under construction and will be open soon.
Sironko, where this Hotel is a newly created district curved from Mbale District and is home to part of Mount Elgon National Park. One of the popular hiking trails (Sasa Trail) in this Park starts from this district hence making it an incredible place to visit and spend your Holidays.

Sabunyo Hotel presently has only 10 rooms, and each of them has a mosquito-draped bed, an en-suite bathroom with a dressing mirror, a sink, a flashing toilet and a shower), a flat-screen Television with satellite channels to keep guests entertained and busy during their stay, and some rooms feature balconies.

However, accommodation here is on a bed-and-breakfast basis.

Mountain climbing/hiking
Mountain climbing is the main activity enjoyed by Sabunyo Hotel guests, and this adventure leads to one of the 5 peaks of the 4,321-meter-tall Mount Elgon. Adventure seekers usually take advantage of this Lodge’s location to summit the volcano.
It is interesting to know that one of the two major hiking trails in Mount Elgon National Park actually starts from Sironko district (where the Hotel is found), close to Budadiri Trading Center. This 3-day hiking Trail follows the stunning Sasa River until Wagagai Peak (the highest point on this mountain) while providing views of the surrounding areas and sighting lots of animals along the way.
Birding watching
With unique species like Red-fronted parrots, Tacazze sunbirds, Lammergeyer, Jackson’s francolin, the Black-collared Apalis, African Goshawk, and others, you can’t afford to miss birding adventures in Mount Elgon National Park.
