Mount Kadama is located in Northeast of Uganda in Karamoja region. It is the second highest and volcanic mountain of the Karamoja region with the highest peak at 3,063 meters called Libo.
Mount Kadama also known as ‘Kadam’ is home to five surrounding tribes: Pokot, Karamojong, Gishu, Tepeth, Sebei and the Kadama. Some of the Abore tribes like the Pokot and Sebei are also found in the neighboring Kenya and they are majorly agriculturalist (farmers), compared to the Tepeth living on top of Mount Moroto who are mixed farmers.
There other difference is that the Pokot and the Sebei people do seummise girls and boys as one of their strong and compulsory cultural belief compared to other tribes. The main crops grown around Mount Kadama are maize, beans, sun flower and wild tomatoes.
Mountain Kadama is an exciting alternative to the more strenuous climbs in East Africa with many of the same attractions. There is a milder climate, and lower elevation and requires no special equipment or technical experience.
Our expeditions are a mix of rich encounters with Uganda’s highland people, breathtaking views and unique sights along the trails and unique campsites where you can enjoy the sunset, the stars and sunrise over the planes of Karamoja.
The hike is guided by experienced local guides and porters are available on request. Food, snacks, camping gear and water is included. The inhabitants are majorly agriculturalists and live in small settlements. The camp will be set with front row seat views of the sunset and sunrise.
